I hate bringers as much as you do. I get it. I swore I would never start one. But there’s a reason why this one needs to be a bringer to start… it wouldn’t work without an audience.

“Improvisational” is (as far as I can tell) one of the only comedy nights happening in this area. It is also a brand new stand-up comedy night where you, the comedian, must completely improvise your whole set based on either audience suggestions written in a bucket or you can do crowd work the whole time (hence why we need a bringer). The crowd work is not to set you up for prepared material. In fact, if you start doing any prepared material/bits, it will be called out that we don’t do that here. It is still stand-up, not improv games like Whose Line, etc.

There’s plenty of places to try out your prepared material, but “Improvisational” is a place to train and force yourself to try and find new material in front of a live audience. You might try something new and find a new joke that you would like to tweak or keep later on for your set. If it doesn’t work, who cares? Bin it. It’s a fun night because there is a lot of interaction between the audience and the comedians, so we all feel like we’ve had a shared experience unique to that night.

Right now, the venue has agreed to have 3 nights in November and we are looking at December dates. In the New Year, it may become a regular weekly night.
